A village in Čitluk municipality, Herzegovina. In 1981 it lay in communist Yugoslavia, beneath Crnica hill, whose slope Podbrdo became known as Apparition Hill. Church bodies argued over the events for decades, and the Ruini Commission later voted 13 in favour of a supernatural character for the first seven apparitions. Medjugorje also became a starting point for other cases. Msgr. Joseph James returned from pilgrimage there in 1988, shortly before the Lubbock reports began. Joseph Januszkiewicz came home healed before the Marlboro Apparitions, and the Weeping Madonnina of Civitavecchia was bought in a shop there.
