A French Mariologist and priest, René Laurentin turns up again and again where the Virgin was said to appear. With Albert Durand, he wrote the centenary history of Pontmain. It revealed a secret 1920 statement in which Jeanne-Marie Lebossé said she had not seen the Virgin. Laurentin argued the brothers' testimony still stood. In August 1990 he visited San Nicolás and published a study. At Oliveto Citra he was among the visiting mariologists who tested the seers for pain during ecstasy. Needles. Lighters.
