Two days after the prosecutor opened an inquiry into the Canneto di Caronia fires, he arrived in the village. He noted the blazes broke out only when people were present. Years later, father and son Pezzino were convicted at first instance. With Gian Marco Rinaldi, he argued Eusapia Palladino's 1908 Naples effects needed no accomplice, only her foot. In 2007 he published Giorgio Castiglioni's analysis of the 1946 Lariosauro of Lake Como, which concluded the paper invented the monster.
