Eusapia Palladino

Person 4 stories, 1852 to 1915

A physical medium from Naples. In 1895 the Society for Psychical Research sat with her in Cambridge, and the verdict was fraud. Thirteen years later, in 1908, the SPR tried again, sending Everard Feilding, William Wortley Baggally and Hereward Carrington to test her in Naples. Her name surfaces elsewhere as a reference point. Cesare Lombroso had accepted her as genuine before the Via Bava poltergeist in Turin, and weighing experiments with her foreshadowed the Goligher Circle in Belfast. James McClenon, reviewing the Koons spirit room, noted she cheated whenever given the chance.
