A ghost hunter and writer whose name runs through Britain's haunted places. Peter Underwood wrote A Gazetteer of British Ghosts (1971) and a Gazetteer of Scottish Ghosts (1974), and served as president of the Ghost Club. At Montrose Air Station he recorded that Major Foggin saw the figure five times that autumn. At Greenwich he studied the Tulip Staircase photograph and noticed that both hands on the rail were left hands. In 1967 he led a vigil there. He also held a night vigil at Langenhoe in 1949, and argued that the Cheltenham ghost was a real woman, Captain Despard's mistress.
