A British army regiment. Its men turn up in two Victorian ghost stories. 1864, the Tower of London. A rifleman of the 60th Rifles stood sentry near the Queen's House, and Captain J. D. Dundas of the same regiment watched from a window as the guard charged a whitish female figure with his bayonet, then fainted. The regiment returns in the Aldershot Spring-heeled Jack scare of 1877. Lord Ernest Hamilton, also of the 60th Rifles, later named a Lieutenant Alfrey as the prankster. No court-martial was ever recorded.
