A ghost writer whose books carried older haunting stories into the twentieth century. In 1910 Elliott O'Donnell printed Rev. John Stewart's letter about the Syderstone Parsonage haunting in Ghostly Phenomena. His 1932 retelling of the Jewel House apparition at the Tower of London went further. In his version, the chair passes right through the thing, a detail later traced as an unsourced addition. His Haunted Churches of 1939 holds the earliest traced version of the Tower sentry who bayoneted a white figure. There, the sentry fled, and got off with a reprimand.
