A clergy house, and a touchstone. Epworth Rectory appears in the archive as an early landmark among hauntings centred on the homes of ministers. Writers on the Syderstone Parsonage case of 1833 placed it in a line of clergy-house hauntings running from Epworth Rectory to Borley Rectory. The Cideville Poltergeist of 1850 sits beside it as another poltergeist in a clergy house. Victorian writers set the Durweston Poltergeist of 1894 alongside it too, with the Drummer of Tedworth, Willington Mill and Cideville.
