Andrew MacKenzie

Person 4 stories, 1882 to 1957

A New Zealand-born journalist, active in the Society for Psychical Research. Andrew MacKenzie wrote about hauntings and kept watch on old cases long after others moved on. At Garden Reach in Cheltenham, he followed reports of the Woman in Black for roughly a century, through a vanishing figure in 1970 to a last sighting in 1985. In 1982 his book Hauntings and Apparitions retold the Nechtansmere battle vision, with McHarg's map. Then came Kersey. After reading one of his books, former cadet Laing wrote to him. Two years of letters followed.
