A ghost photograph from Raynham Hall, and a benchmark for the genre. In this archive, the Brown Lady of Raynham Hall appears mostly as a point of comparison. Sybell Corbet's accidental 1891 library exposure at Combermere Abbey is often listed beside it among the most famous British ghost photographs. So is the hooded figure in the Spectre of Newby Church, a picture Janet Bord included in *Ghosts* in 1974. The Tulip Staircase photograph from the Queen's House, Greenwich, joins them too. Underwood went further. He ranked the Greenwich image above the Brown Lady.
