A psychical researcher, and a name that surfaces where the Society for Psychical Research went looking for the unexplained. In the 1863 Wilmot apparition, a wife seemingly appeared aboard the SS City of Limerick. Others reached for telepathy or a shared apparitional drama. F. W. H. Myers went further. He argued that her consciousness really travelled to the ship. Decades later he joined the inquiry at Ballechin House, among about 40 guests who came and went in 1897, alongside Oliver Lodge, while raps, footsteps and a speaking voice filled the record.
