A London newspaper, and for more than a century a recurring stage for strange reports. In February 1858 it printed the Castilian's sea serpent sighting off St Helena, which provoked considerable controversy. On 28 April 1877 it ran the Aldershot sentry story as "The Aldershott Ghost." Then came 21 October 1921. Its headlines on the Lhakpa La tracks spoke of wild hairy men, and ten days later of abominable snowmen. On 3 August 1985 it quoted Air Marshal Azim Daudpota on the Bulawayo sighting. No ordinary UFO, he said.
