Rosemary Ellen Guiley

Person 4 stories, 1937 to 1965

An encyclopedist of the strange, Rosemary Ellen Guiley turns up wherever old cases get retold. Her encyclopedia carries the Whaley House story of 1964. It places Regis Philbin at the séance, with Anna's apparition vanishing under his flashlight. For the Jaboticabal poltergeist of 1965, many accounts reach Guy Lyon Playfair's book by way of her work. She also wrote Monsters of West Virginia, which kept the Grafton Monster alive after its debunking. At Langenhoe Church, she offered a quieter theory. Merryweather, she suggested, may have been an unwitting activator.
