A writer and investigator of poltergeists, Guy Lyon Playfair turns up across three cases in the archive. His book The Indefinite Boundary (1976) is the main published source for the Jaboticabal poltergeist of 1965, and nearly every account of Maria José Ferreira traces back to it. At Enfield he followed Maurice Grosse of the Society for Psychical Research. He arrived on 12 September 1977. Together they recorded more than 180 hours of tape. Decades later, in 2008, he wrote the foreword to the book on the South Shields Poltergeist.
