A parapsychologist from Freiburg, Hans Bender directed the IGPP and was called to some of Germany's strangest disturbances. Bremen, 1965. He judged the porcelain-shop events genuine recurrent spontaneous psychokinesis, or RSPK. On 1 December 1967 his institute took over the Rosenheim Poltergeist, and his team set up an AMPEX video recorder. In 1973 he was present when a notary sealed the kitchen at Bélmez for three months, later reporting slight changes in the faces. On 21 February 1982 he arrived in Neutraubling to look into the Chopper ghost voice.
