A magician and sceptic, James Randi appears in the archive as a voice of doubt. March 13, 1984. In Columbus, he arrived to investigate Tina Resch for CSICOP. Joan Resch turned him away at the door. He also challenged claims linked to Matthew Manning, the Shelford poltergeist boy of 1967. With Joe Nickell, he criticised Hans Bender for calling the Rosenheim case genuine even after deception was found. Randi also denounced the teachings of George King, founder of the Aetherius Society, as pseudoscience.
