Paul Kurtz

Person 3 stories, 1974 to 1989

The chair of CSICOP, Paul Kurtz was the archive's recurring sceptic. When a case drew headlines, he answered it. In West Pittston, he sent two teams to investigate the Smurl haunting. The Warrens refused them entry. Kurtz called the case a hoax and compared it to Amityville. In Columbus, he dismissed Tina Resch as a disturbed teenager who craved attention. Writing in Skeptical Inquirer about the 1989 Voronezh incident, he described a paranormal pandemonium released by glasnost.
