Naden Harbour

Place 7 stories, 1933 to 1968

A whaling station on the north coast of Graham Island, in what is now Haida Gwaii, British Columbia. Built in 1911, it passed to Consolidated Whaling of Toronto in 1918. Three ships hunted mostly fin and sperm whales. Then came 1937, and a carcass that would enter the Cadborosaurus story. In 1995 Bousfield and LeBlond named the creature Cadborosaurus willsi and made the Naden Harbour carcass its type specimen. It sits in the chronologies beside the Henry Island carcass of 1934 and the sightings off Victoria that first gave Caddy its name.
