A Kelowna journalist, researcher and author, Arlene Gaal spent years studying the Ogopogo of Okanagan Lake. She bought Art Folden's 1968 film and had it professionally analysed. By her account, it was no hoax. In 1980 she studied Larry Thal's footage closely and judged his animal and Folden's to be basically the same size, 40 to 60 feet long. She later called Ken Chaplin's 1989 Bear Creek tape the best image ever taken of any unknown species. Her book In Search of Ogopogo also quotes the wire text on the 1934 Henry Island carcass.
