A cryptozoology author whose books turn up again and again in the sea serpent files. His Strange Monsters of the Pacific Northwest keeps the 1934 Columbia River Bar creature, Claude, alive. In Globsters he examined Charles Rankin's 27-foot carcass on the Clyde and rejected every known identification. In 2011 he reinvestigated Edward Brian McCleary's Pensacola sea serpent for the Centre for Fortean Zoology. The almanac showed no gale. He found no records of a search. Without evidence, he concluded, the claim had to be dismissed. His Encyclopedia of Cryptozoology was also cited in the debate over the orang minyak.
