Adrian Shine was a naturalist with the Loch Ness and Morar Project. He comes up again and again in the archive's lake monster cases. In the 1980s he interviewed Aldie Mackay face to face about her 1933 sighting. On 14 April 2013 he led a boat trip to toast her with whisky. In 1975 he led an expedition on Loch Morar that lowered an observation sphere, the Machan, about 30 feet down. His later work was more sceptical. In 2001 he showed that the edges in the Rines flipper photographs had been added by paintbrush. In 2003 he found a pale blob in Tim Dinsdale's film, where a helmsman would sit.
