A Loch Ness researcher and blogger, Roland Watson returns again and again to the classic cases. Often he takes the witnesses' side. On his Loch Ness Mystery blog he found four inconsistent versions of the hoax story behind Lachlan Stuart's three humps photograph of 1951, and called it unacceptable as evidence. He defended Peter MacNab's 1955 picture at Urquhart Castle. In a 2022 paper in the Journal of Scientific Exploration, he saw a fish-like head with an open mouth and an eye in Hugh Gray's photograph. Critics call that pareidolia. For Arthur Grant's 1934 land sighting, he used old maps to move the site.
