A sceptic of the Loch Ness legend. Ronald Binns set out his case in The Loch Ness Mystery Solved, published in 1983. He looked at the photographs and found natural readings for them. Peter MacNab's humps at Urquhart Castle in 1955, he wrote, could be a wave effect from three trawlers travelling close together. In the 1933 Mackay report he called the account wildly exaggerated, and he questioned Hugh Gray's character over the first claimed photo. He even went back to Saint Columba, arguing that Adomnán probably reused a common motif.
