Borlum Bay

Place 4 stories, 1933 to 1971

A small bay at the south-western end of Loch Ness, just east of Fort Augustus. The windows of Kilchumein Lodge looked out over it. In 1934 a young housemaid there, Margaret Munro, watched an animal ashore through binoculars, a sighting now counted among the classic land sightings of the loch alongside Arthur Grant's. The bay appears again in 1971. Tim Dinsdale was patrolling the south end of the loch as Fr Gregory Brusey and Roger Pugh reported movement from the abbey jetty. The low sun shone across towards Borlum Bay. Dinsdale was blinded by the glare.
