An author whose book became a reference point for Loch Ness land sightings. Nicholas Witchell wrote The Loch Ness Story, first published in 1974. For the Forbes family's 1919 encounter at Inverfarigaig, his book was the earliest printed source. A horse reared. Something large and dark crossed the road, then a splash. In Margaret Munro's 1934 Borlum Bay case, he placed the animal about 200 metres from the lodge, a location later disputed. He also quoted Torquil MacLeod's 1960 letter to Constance Whyte and redrew the sketch, showing three graticules instead of five.
