Museum of Hoaxes

Organisation 6 stories, 1848 to 2007

A sceptical voice turns up again and again in the archive's monster stories. The Museum of Hoaxes weighed in on the 1895 Winsted Wild Man, crediting the tale to Lou Stone, a writer who needed $150 quickly. On the 1925 Moore's Beach carcass, it concluded that E. L. Wallace himself was the real hoax. It suggested Peter MacNab's 1955 Loch Ness photograph could have been altered by painting in the monster or painting out a boat. Alex Boese of the Museum of Hoaxes doubted the 2007 Gordon Holmes video showed Nessie. He doubted it was faked, too.
