Alex Boese writes for the Museum of Hoaxes, and his name surfaces whenever a Loch Ness image is put to the test. Peter MacNab's 1955 photograph of two dark humps below Urquhart Castle drew his suggestion that the picture had been doctored. Doc Shiels's 1977 head-and-neck shot is catalogued by the Museum of Hoaxes under the nickname that stuck to it, the Loch Ness Muppet. Then came Gordon Holmes's 2007 video. Boese doubted it showed Nessie. He also doubted it was faked, offering a fish, a trick of the light or a stray reader of his own site as the culprit.
