At the Pentagon sat the National Military Command Center. In the mid-1970s, reports of strange objects over American bases flowed into it. In 1975, during the Loring AFB incursions, the Joint Chiefs received regular updates through it. January 21, 1976. Security Police at Cannon AFB saw two objects near the flight line, and the center logged the call at 0555 EST. That same year it wrote up sightings at Fort Ritchie and Site R as a Memorandum for the Record, home of its backup, the Alternate National Military Command Center.
