An English-language blogger. Across the French beast cases, John Knifton translated and retold old accounts, often taking the witnesses at their word. For the Bête du Cinglais of 1632, he argued the French bêtes were an extinct wolf type animal unknown to science. In 2016 he translated the account of the Beast of Veyreau and suggested an unknown wolf species. For the Bête du Lyonnais, he went further still, speculating about a surviving prehistoric predator. Further afield, he tested a thylacine theory for the Girt Dog of Ennerdale and rejected it, and proposed a puma for the Nottingham Lion of 1976.
