A French daily newspaper, Le Méridional carried several foreign sighting reports to its readers. 22 May 1967. The Berry Head coastguard sighting over Brixham, carried abroad by AFP, made its front page. In November 1978 it covered the Kuwait oil-field wave at Umm al-Aish. Citing the Kuwaiti dailies Al-Qabas and Al-Watan, it counted four employees as witnesses, including an American citizen. On December 31 of that year it ran a wire report headlined "U.F.O's in the sky of Bulgaria." The piece described two identical objects over Pleven seen by hundreds of witnesses.
