Place 8 stories, 1610 to 1988

A name shared by two places in this archive, an English city and a Pennsylvania town. In Bristol, England, the Lamb Inn stood outside Lawford's Gate in Old Market. There, in 1761 and 1762, the Giles sisters Molly and Dobby were at the centre of a poltergeist affair that divided the city. Clergy questioned the spirit in Hebrew, Latin and Greek. In 1962 an Aer Lingus spokesman confirmed an unidentified object seen south-west of Bristol. Across the Atlantic, in Bristol, Pennsylvania, Patrolman James Sackville fired at a winged, hopping thing during the Jersey Devil's week of 1909.
