Two towns share this name in the archive. In Racine County, Wisconsin, Burlington sits just southwest of Browns Lake. August 1876. A letter reached the Burlington Standard describing a lake creature, and the editor answered with a mammoth pickerel. In Burlington, Vermont, on July 2, 1907, Bishop John S. Michaud stood outside the Howard Bank and watched a fireball, later written up as possible ball lightning. The same Vermont city was home port for the Spirit of Ethan Allen. On July 28, 1984, off Appletree Point, its passengers watched something with three to five fins swim beside the boat.
