Chad Lewis researches the lake monsters and strange visitors of the Upper Midwest. At Lake Pepin he searched with sonar and underwater cameras in 2011 and 2013. Nothing conclusive. He still says he is at least 75 percent sure there is truth behind the legend, and in 2014 he and Noah Voss published a book on Pepie. In 2016 he opened Lake Monsters of Wisconsin with the Browns Lake demon of 1876. In 2013 he co-wrote The Van Meter Visitor. Each late September he leads walking tours at the town's festival.
