A reviewer for the Society for Psychical Research, Tom Ruffles returns to old cases with a careful eye. At Raynham Hall, he took up G.V.C. Herbert's 1937 report on the Brown Lady photograph, rediscovered by Alan Murdie in 2006. Ruffles argued that several of Herbert's anomalies were simply flash reflections. In Battersea, reviewing Shirley's 2013 memoir, he judged it more likely she was actively and consciously involved, since Donald's demands served her. And at Meadow Cottage in Dodleston, he recorded how the SPR investigation fizzled. No report was filed.
