A newspaper by name, The Star turns up in the archive's press trail across more than a century. September 8, 1881. It printed "A Ghost Story" as reports of the Garstang Ghost spread through the papers. In 1995 its photographer Ricky Lai, 31, went to Tanjung Sepat to see for himself. He watched a powerful bright light hovering near the ground in the jungle, took photographs, and camped there for a week. In 2014 The Star described amber, pillar-shaped lights moving across the sky over Putatan, a display it put at several minutes.
