Tony "Doc" Shiels was born in Salford in 1938. Artist, playwright, stage magician and psychic entertainer, he was billed as "The Wizard of the West." He did not simply hunt monsters. He claimed to raise them. In Cornwall he is credited with naming Morgawr, the Falmouth Bay sea serpent, and by late 1976 he had named the Owlman of Mawnan after the Melling sisters' sighting. On 21 May 1977 he photographed a head and neck rising from Loch Ness near Urquhart Castle. Critics later suggested the Morgawr pictures showed a model.
