The world's highest mountain stands at the centre of the Yeti story. 1921. A British expedition led by Lt-Col. Charles Kenneth Howard-Bury went to Tibet to reconnoitre it, with George Mallory among the climbers. Decades later, climber Craig Calonica reported Yeti sightings on its north side in 1998, later retold as two creatures walking together. In November 2007 the Sci Fi Channel series Destination Truth took a nine-person team to the Khumbu region nearby. They followed Yeti reports from Sherpas and farmers. The creature had been sought here since the 1920s, never confirmed by science.
