Television took Josh Gates into the field. As host of Destination Truth, he led his team after cryptids across the world. The first episode, in 2007, sent him after the mermaidlike ri off New Ireland. That same year he went to the Mzintlava River for "Mamlambo and Tokeloshe." In Kiryat Yam the team spent a week filming day and night, above and below the water. One night they saw a human figure dip into the sea and vanish. They dived after it. They found nothing. On 29 March 2011, another episode followed Gates to Panama and the Cerro Azul creature.
