Loren E. Gross was a UFO historian. He covered the cases in his UFOs: A History series. That series has a volume for November to December 1956. It covers two cases from that year. One is Capital Airlines Flight 77, where a blue-white light stopped in front of the plane over southern Alabama. The other is the Guam F-86D intercept, where 1st Lt. Ted Brunson chased a circling white light. He also wrote about Seymour Hess's 1950 sighting at Lowell Observatory. In 1988 he looked back at the Rhodes photographs from Phoenix and suggested they might have been faked to match a Soviet saucer letter printed the same day.
