A researcher who spent years taking apart the most famous images of Loch Ness. In the 1990s, Alastair Boyd and David Martin investigated the Surgeon's Photograph. 13 March 1994. The pair published the confession of model-maker Christian Spurling, and the monster became a toy submarine. Boyd also traced the 1933 footprints found by Marmaduke Wetherell to a hippo-foot ashtray belonging to Wetherell's grandson. His shallow-water analysis is linked to Lachlan Stuart's three humps photograph of 1951, and author Richard Frere later wrote him a letter describing bales of hay.
