A small commune in the Var, in south-eastern France. In 1981 it gave its name to the country's best-known landing trace case. Renato Nicolaï, described as a farmer or a retired mason, had lived on his property there for nearly 14 years and was building a cement shelter for a water pump in his garden. The case became a benchmark. It came one week after the Vaucresson police officers' sighting, which stayed in the shadows. L'Amarante at Laxou in 1982 is called the best-known official French physical-trace case after it. The Fontiès-d'Aude file of 1995 keeps it company among GEIPAN cases with alleged effects.
