Sighting record / 1981
New Year's Day, 1981. Evening, near Vaucresson, in the western suburbs of Paris. Two police officers notice a yellow-orange glow shimmering between 100 and 150 metres up. They watch it move. Then they see the shape behind the light. A circular craft, spinning on itself. It glides at a slow, steady pace, without any noise, and seems to begin a descent. Flashing lights play across it. A short trail follows behind. About a minute later, the landscape hides it from view. France's official UFO office, GEIPAN, classed the sighting D. Unexplained. It remains the only unexplained case on file in the Hauts-de-Seine.
