The surname belongs to three different men in this archive. Nathan H. Mooney, described as the Clinton County Sheriff, reported a water serpent on Lake Champlain in 1883, a sighting said to have unbottled a flood of others. Even his office as sheriff is unconfirmed. October 1966. James Mooney, a New York Daily News photographer, stood with three policemen under a giant hot dog in the Patchogue sky. He said he shot a roll of film. No frame was ever published. Later, Nick Mooney of the Parks & Wildlife Department questioned Ranger Charlie Beasley's 1995 thylacine sighting.
