A small dairy-farming town on the southern Atherton Tablelands, about 98 km south-west of Cairns. June 5, 1961. Farmers reported an object in the late morning sky, and a senior constable watched it through field glasses for hours. Head teacher Terrance Seary, an ex-RAAF navigator, followed it through binoculars, while residents with cameras failed to bring it into focus. Five days later a truck driver at Mount Garnet reported his own silent object, and the police file "Unidentified Flying Objects" also came to hold the 1965 Daunia Station case.
