Organisation 9 stories, 1951 to 2010

Australia's civil aviation authority turns up again and again in the archive's sightings, usually as the office that checked the skies and found nothing there. In 1953, after the Drury film over Port Moresby, its regional director wrote that no known aircraft could match what was seen. Early in January 1954, it urged the public to set aside their fear of ridicule and report. Soon after, calls jammed air traffic control lines in Melbourne. In 1961, police checking the Mt Hale Station angel hair sighting asked the Department. No aircraft were in the area. No balloons had gone up.
