August 2010. Mauritius, an island in the Indian Ocean. Somewhere between around 1 a.m. and 3 a.m., an enormous shape appeared in the night sky. Delta shaped, or curved like a boomerang. More than two football fields in length, according to the researcher who would later tell its story. Hundreds of witnesses said they saw it. A video of about ten minutes exists. The story surfaced nearly a decade later, when MUFON's Mauritius director J.P. Hague described it to George Knapp of Mystery Wire. Hague compared it to the Phoenix Lights. No names, no press reports and no public copy of the footage have surfaced since.

Context

Mauritius is an island republic in the Indian Ocean, off the east coast of Africa. Its UFO reports tend to end up on one desk. That desk belongs to J.P. Hague, described as the MUFON director in Mauritius and a leading UFO researcher living on the island.
