London Zoo

Organisation 4 stories, 1962 to 2005

When Britain's big cat reports needed an expert eye, the authorities often turned to London Zoo. September 7, 1964. Surrey Police took plaster casts of paw prints near Munstead during the Surrey Puma wave, and London Zoo experts identified one as a puma. In the Beast of Bodmin Moor case of 1995, a leopard skull from the River Fowey went before the press, and a London Zoo expert called it genuine. For a few days, it looked like proof. In Sydenham in 2005, after Anthony Holder was attacked in his garden, the zoo was consulted again. No animal was caught.
