The surname Hughes belongs to three different people in this archive. Saturday, 17 November 1883. Frank S. Hughes arrived in Wem to investigate the Wood's Farm poltergeist for the Society for Psychical Research, and the report found abundant evidence of trickery alongside incidents it could not explain. Nearly a century later, on 30 September 1978, Trevelin landowner Eilir Hughes watched a bright multicoloured disc hover a metre above the ground beside the pickup, then reported it to the local police. In Durban in 2004, physicist Professor Arthur Hughes of the University of KwaZulu-Natal studied footage of a shape-changing light. The verdict was the planet Venus.
