A town in Staffordshire in 1971, part of the Metropolitan Borough of Walsall since 1974. August 1971. A bright luminous object hung silently, thousands of feet above an Aldridge petrol station. PC Les Leek later remembered it as a very big bright egg. Constables drove directly beneath it while a stunned crowd gathered below, and the UFO Register noted five police patrolmen watching for two hours. The Daily Express and The Sun carried the story. In 1994 the Sunday Mercury called it the best unsolved UFO case in the West Midlands. The case also stands beside the Foleshill police sighting of the same year.
