A Pennine town in West Yorkshire, about 6 miles from Bacup. Early hours of 28 November 1980. PC Alan Godfrey, patrolling alone in a panda car on Burnley Road, reported a close encounter there. Under regression, his account came to include missing time, and Jenny Randles saw striking parallels with Elsie Oakensen's 1978 car-stop at Church Stowe. Five months earlier, the body of miner Zigmund Adamski had been found on a coal pile in the town. Some tied the two cases together, though nothing links them beyond the officer and the place.
